http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/cinema_eos_cameras/eos_c300

I got to play with that today, So now that's what I'm recommending

Really cheap, too!  :ehehe:

I'm guessing there is some sarcasm there....????

How much does that bad-boy go for.  No MSRP on the Canon site, and can't seem to find it in the Futureshop/Bestbuy sites.... probably because this is pro-level gear...???  Looks badass though!!

My ADD has led me into buying some recording gear, so I think the camera may have to wait a while.....  after recording a jam last week with the new recorder I realize that I desperately need a couple more mic's and stands which is going to take me out a few hundred bucks, (SM57's probably).

When I re-visit the video side, I am thinking the SLR approach will not offer the flexibility needed, unless a version comes out that will allow a +/- 15 minute recording time.  I'll probably be looking at dedicated video cameras.

Fair. I think the best you're going to find in the SLR category is 12 minutes. You can definitely get dedicated video cameras in that same price range, trade off is gonna be sensor size though.
